Bachoco USA  is seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant for our Fort Smith, AR corporate headquarters. 

 

Summary: The Fixed Asset Accountant provides support to Sr. Manager of Budget & Business Analytics.  This position will be responsible for the entire Capital Expenditure and Fixed Asset process (“CAPEX”) within our organization as it relates to the management of Capital Project Requests, generating detailed spending reports of approved projects, budgets as it relates to CAPEX, with consolidated monthly reporting to Bachoco MX, and the management of the Accounting Fixed Asset System (Asset Keeper).  This will include any journal entries, account reconciliations, variance calculation to estimated and associated research of any variances as it related to Assets, Depreciation, and or Capital Projects.  In addition to Fixed Assets, this position will also maintain the company’s rents and leases through SAP and post the monthly depreciation related to rents and leases.                         

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, and other duties as assigned:

  • Operate a computer with Microsoft Windows-based programs. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point. Must be able to learn Asset Keeper and SAP for use in tracking, capitalizing, disposing, and comparing actual expenditures with expected expenditures.
  • Assist all levels of management, plant and corporate, with the preparation and analysis of all Capital Request projects. This will include spending analysis, variance analysis, project audits, and capitalization process.
  • Identify and record fixed asset additions, transfers, and disposals in the fixed asset system.
  • Prepare Monthly Depreciation and Amortization entries for fixed assets and capitalize CIP projects as completed including determining if capital items are subject to sales and use tax.
  • Travel to all plant locations to help the facility personnel to understand their respective responsibilities as it relates to Capital Projects, and CAPEX Budgets.
  • Ability to track volumes, statistics, and dollars.  This will need to be done weekly, monthly, year-to-date, and annually as it relates to Capital Projects/Fixed assets.
  • Ability to analyze variances to expected outcome or operating standard.
  • Balance sheet management of assigned asset accounts. Prepare monthly reconciliation of accounts and record reclassification and adjustment journal entries as needed.
  • Analyze weekly/monthly Capital Spending and communicate with management to ensure there is no deviation from the scope or budget of the project.
  • Provide analytical research as needed on Fixed Assets and Capital Expenditures.
  • Track any new long-term rents and leases prior to submitting to Bachoco MX to be entered into our rents and leases system in SAP, capitalize them on the balance sheet and determine taxability.
  • Assist with working with State Agencies and Outside Property Tax Consultants on any exemptions or tax credits that can be obtained because of Capital Investments.
  • Review and update the Fixed Asset and Capital Project/Investment policy as needed.
  • Maintain open communication with project managers regarding the status of projects.
  • Review and assist with Capital Project presentations for OK Management, Bachoco Management and BOD meetings.
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish Preferred.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business related major (from four-year College or university) preferred; 2-5 years in accounting or finance required.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Bi-lingual in Spanish is not required, but a plus.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills: To perform the job successfully an individual should have knowledge of E-Mail software, Accounting systems, SAP, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
