Summary: The Sr. Live Accounting Manager provides guidance and oversight at each live operating location in all matters relating to operating results and measurement.  This position ensures that all accounting information is consistently prepared and in compliance with Company Policy and US GAAP. The position will provide upper management and the Live Operations group with cost analysis and be part of the team that determines project, operations strategies, and completion of annual budget.  This position has direct supervisory responsibility.   The Sr. Live Accounting Manager will directly manage the Broiler and Breeder Accounting Clerks and Live Accountant and train any new clerical staff in the live accounting area.   The position will manage the day to day accounting activities of the broiler and breeder areas and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of grower pay, reports, etc.  The position will actively participate in the month end close process as directed by the VP Controller.  This will include journal entries, general ledger account analysis, general ledger, account reconciliations, etc. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate a computer with Microsoft Windows-based programs. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point. Must be a fast learner in using our in-house ERP system and/or SAP for use in comparing actual expenditures with expected expenditures.
  • Prepare weekly live cost estimate.
  • Prepare weekly EC live reports.
  • Ability to analyze variances to expected outcome.
  • Balance sheet management of assigned asset and liability accounts.  Ensure monthly reconciliation of assigned accounts.
  • Analyze weekly large variances and be able to discuss them with management
  • Provide analytical research on Agri Stats comparisons and provide operating data to said firm on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure correct inventory valuation.  Identify LCM opportunities as needed.
  • Monitor and report correct expenses across all levels of the organization in order deliver an accurate final monthly income statement.
  • Work with Live Area to generate annual budget and complete the annual live portion of the yearly accounting budget.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise four live related accounting clerks/accountants.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business related major (from four-year College or University); 5 years in accounting or finance with budgeting experience. (Poultry industry preferred)  

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bi-lingual in Spanish is not required, but a plus.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills: To perform the job successfully an individual should have knowledge of E-Mail software, Accounting systems, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver's license.
